Biography
Sajid Chaudhry is a Milton resident, educator, regulated professional and community advocate with more than 20 years of experience in education, consulting and working with diverse communities in Canada and internationally.
Sajid holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Universiti Utara Malaysia (Northern University of Malaysia) and master's degrees in English Language & Literature and Political Science from Pakistan. In Canada, he is certified in Quality Management from the University of Manitoba and Supervision from the University of Waterloo, along with certificates and training in team building, leadership, quality assurance and organizational effectiveness. His career includes working as a college and university lecturer, department head, academic administrator and consultant to senior-level educational decision-makers. He is also a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC-IRB).
His community service spans education, inclusion, seniors' engagement, cultural initiatives and civic participation. He has volunteered with the International Dyslexia Association Ontario Branch, condominium corporations across Peel, Halton and Waterloo Regions, Bishop P. F. Reding Catholic School Council and community clean-up initiatives. He works closely with seniors through activities that promote social connection and reduce isolation, serves as Founding Director of the Global Pakistani Diaspora Council, Canada Chapter, and volunteers as a peer reviewer for academic research journals.
Now running for Regional Councillor – Ward 1, Sajid wants to bring his professional experience, community involvement and fresh perspective to the Council table with a simple commitment:

Community involvement
His community service spans education, inclusion, seniors' engagement, cultural initiatives and civic participation. Family & Community
Sajid is a husband and father whose family experiences Milton in much the same way as many other working families. His wife works in the education and child-care sector, and their daughter attends high school in Milton. Their everyday lives give Sajid a personal connection to the issues facing families, from education, child care and community safety to traffic, recreation, affordability and planning for the next generation. For Sajid, Milton is not simply where he is running for office, it is where his family lives, works, learns and calls home.
Why Sajid is running
Ward 1 is unique. It includes established neighbourhoods, growing residential communities, downtown businesses, rural communities, major roads and significant transportation pressures. It needs representation that understands all of those realities.
I am not entering this race to oppose everything. I am in it because I believe elected representatives should question what needs to be questioned. A councillor should not simply accept every staff recommendation because it comes in a briefing package.
A councillor should ask
- Why?
- Why not?
- What will it cost?
- What are the alternatives?
- Were residents consulted?
- What are the long-term consequences?
- And will this actually make Milton better?
Ward 1 does not once again need the same rubber stamp. It needs a new voice that can raise your questions.
My commitment
I cannot promise to bring you the moon, but I can commit to focusing on the things that matter to you right here on Earth, right here in Milton and right here in Ward 1.
- I will not promise that every problem can be solved overnight, but I will promise to raise the questions.
- I will not promise that Council will always agree with me, but I will promise that residents will know where I stand.
- I will not promise to be a nodding head, but I commit that I will be a questioning voice.
- I will listen before deciding.
- I will question before approving.
- I will investigate before accepting.
- I will represent before explaining.
